University Access Agreement
York St John University's Access Agreement is approved by the
Office for Fair Access (OFFA). Access agreements set out how
universities and colleges will safeguard and promote fair access
through bursaries and other forms of financial support.
'Our widening participation priorities are
activities which target mature learners with no previous experience
of higher education, young people from neighbourhoods of low
participation in Higher Education and black minority ethnic groups
with no previous experience of higher education. Continued support
will be in place for care leavers and disabled groups. There will
be a greater focus on ensuring that activities are linked across
the whole student life cycle (i.e activities are not ad hoc but sit
within a range of linked work for each target group from aspiration
raising and recruitment to retention and
success)'
'Ultimately, widening participation should be about
retention and success for students as well as aspiration'
