History

The Allied Health Professions Research and Effectiveness Forum for Yorkshire was formed in 1998 and exists to increase research capacity across the Yorkshire region. Traditionally mainstream health research has largely been conducted by medical professionals, however in recent years the research culture amongst Allied Health Professionals has begun to grow (Wrightson and Cross, 2004).

The Research and Effectiveness Forum works to foster this culture of research growth in the Allied Health Professions and works in partnership with a large number of NHS and higher education institutions in the Yorkshire region to maintain continued development.  The Forum offers support to allied health professionals who wish to embark on research projects but need guidance in either all or various aspects of the process.  Each year the Forum holds a themed conference relating to particular aspects of the research process, together with a showcase of research projects conducted by Allied Health Professionals across the region.
