Brett heads up the Alumni Development Office team which
includes: Alumni & Development Officer, Volunteers (currently
16) and YSJ students on placements. Brett has been at York St John
since 2003. He initiated and manages the alumni relations
programme and the YSJ annual fund SPARK (Securing Potential and
Releasing Knowledge). Brett co-manages a Volunteer Programme
with Alumni & Development Officer, Kate Hutchings where an
outstanding group of students and alumni contribute significantly
to the work and success of the department.
Other responsibilities include:
- Manage a strong pre-alum programme
working closely with the Students’ Union and clubs and societies
encouraging them to be involved with a range of fun activities to
help raise funds for SPARK.
- Ensuring a quality learning experience
for our volunteer programme.
- Manage a busy fundraising and alumni
events programme.
- Manage the portfolio of donors and
liaise directly with them.
- Editing the annual
Alumination (Alumni Society magazine) publication.
One of our volunteers is alumnus John
Maw, MBE who has supported York St John for a number of
years. John assists Brett with the pre-alum programme as well
as leading a range of people around the Heritage Trail he
devised.
