What is Joint Honours?
Our Joint Honours programmes give you the opportunity to combine
two subjects from a range of subject areas in a structured
way. Even though you will study two subjects you do the same
amount of work as if you were studying a single honours
programme. The difference is that you select the modules you
most want to do from each area.

This means you can combine subjects such as English Literature
with Media or American studies and History. You can
choose Creative Writing and pair this with English Literature
or English Language as well as a range of other subjects
in the Faculty of Arts. As well as pairings in the Faculty of Arts
it is also possible to combine English Literature with Education,
Languages and English Language and Linguistics.
If you want to specialise in one subject after your first year
in some programmes there is the possibility of transferring to a
single honours programme in one of your subjects. Alongside
learning about your two subjects you will develop a range of skills
relevant to your subjects, but also which prepare you for the
world of work after graduation. As a graduate with a Joint
Honours degree, you will leave University with a broad expertise in
two subject areas which will be a really positive attribute when
applying for jobs or further study at the end of your
programme.
