Working with others

Choosing to undertake a Joint Honours programme is a fantastic way of working with others.

As a Joint Honours student you get the opportunity to work with students from two subject areas. As well as tutors teaching in one subject area, some members of the staff teams teach across the Joint Honours subjects, so you will be working with a diverse range of engaging and experienced tutors and work with a range of really exciting and interesting people who are interested in both your subject areas. This gives you the opportunity to develop valuable experience which will help you in the job market when you graduate from York St John.

All subject areas in Joint Honours include group work as a learning opportunity, and in some subject areas there are opportunities to deliver presentations with others as part of your assessment.

Joint Honours students will be able to get involved in the production of the Media magazine NEUTRAL, a magazine that is anything but neutral in tone and content. NEUTRAL engages actively and creatively with contemporary media, culture and the arts. Conceived by Media students at York St John University as a space to publish ideas, articles, interviews, images and creative expression, NEUTRAL encourages submissions from both inside and outside the University, from anyone interested in contributing to contemporary debates in the arena of media, culture and the arts.

We encourage students to submit articles and other content for NEUTRAL. We also invite students to get involved in the production design and editorial process as well as the marketing of the magazine. NEUTRAL exists on two platforms, both as a printed magazine and a website. Both of these exist in order to showcase the interdisciplinary range of work that takes place in the Faculty.
