Film Production - Unlimited opportunities
We also enjoy a close relationship with the
Yorkshire Centre of the Royal Television Society and Screen
Yorkshire, and have launched joint ventures with York’s independent
cinemas.
At the end of your degree, your work
will be shown to an audience of professionals and the public at
prestigious external venues; previous screenings have been held
at City
Screen. Student work has won significant awards including
the Royal Television Awards in 2010 and 2011.
At YSJ you will learn transferable skills -
from the development of creative ideas to an understanding of
budgets, from working in a team to writing skills and technical
knowhow.
Currently we have graduates working with
Yorkshire Television, as editors with BBC TV, ITN, Granada,
Chameleon Television, Screen Yorkshire, the British Film Institute,
Aardman Animation, Century Films, Channel 5, Sky Digital, Sky
News, amongst many others. One YSJ graduate is one of only two
to gain a camera apprenticeship with the BBC and is now a
freelance camera operator. Others have chosen to continue their
studies with Masters degrees and PhDs as well as PGCEs and some
have also established their own production companies, including
Rogue Frame and Orillo.
