History - Working with others

The Globe TheatreWe have developed collaborative links with a variety of institutions and created opportunities for our students to interact with agencies outside the University, including museums and other cultural institutions. For example, this coming year, we have invited a doctoral fellow from the Globe Theatre in London, http://www.shakespearesglobe.com/, to come to York St John and hold a session for our students on the Researching and Presenting the Past module.

Our students will visit and discuss the exhibits on display at York Castle Museum, http://www.yorkcastlemuseum.org.uk/Page/Index.aspx, from a public history perspective. In addition, there will be collaboration between the Yorkshire Museum and York St John, focussing on the medieval objects in the Yorkshire Museum collections.

Representatives from Beningbrough Hall (National Trust – http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-beningbroughhallandgardens) were invited to hold a session for our students on the History, Community and Culture module to arrange work placements and internships.
