Profile Teaching Professional Activities Research & Publications

 

Martin is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management with specialist interests in Accounting and Finance.  He has held similar posts in a number of institutions since 1987.  Prior to that he worked as CIPFA accountant for local government for 6 years, and for a SME for 4 years.

He has developed, led and taught a large number of specialist  accounting and finance modules for undergraduate accounting degrees and also more general accounting and finance modules for post graduate courses in management.  He has led Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, and has been both a Governor and a member of Academic Board.  Additionally he has delivered many short executive education courses (on and off campus).

He is particularly interested in the application of accounting techniques in the public sector and developed a specialist undergraduate course in public sector finance and has also delivered some conference papers in this area.  He was a reviewer for Public Money and Management in 2011.

Martin has sat on the Audit Committee of a local further education college and on a Scrutiny Committee of a local council.
