Profile Teaching Professional Activities

After graduating from St Hugh’s College, Oxford, I spent a year at the University of York to gain my PGCE, then taught English as a foreign language in Munich for 2 years.

On returning to the UK, I taught for 7 years at Harrogate Grammar School, then studied for the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation which I passed in 1999. I worked as a freelance translator and language tutor, teaching in private and business settings, before taking up part-time posts at the College of York St John (as it was at that time) and the University of York.

I now teach full-time at York St John University
