Profile Teaching Professional Activities

I am particularly interested in translation, at present I am involved in the development of the future MA Applied Linguistics: Translation programme. I am an associate member of the Institute of Interpreting and Translation and regularly attend workshops and training sessions. At present I am coordinator of the CDP activities for the Japanese Network of the ITI.

I am a member of BATJ (British Association for Teaching Japanese) and attend Japanese teaching workshops at the Japan Foundation in London.

My personal areas of interest are the development of communicative teaching materials and the so-called J-GAP – bridging the gap between secondary and higher education with particular reference to Japanese language studies.

I run the York Japan Society as well as Kaminari Taiko Drumming - North Yorkshire's only Japanese drumming group.
