Profile Teaching Professional Activities Research & Publications

I teach on the undergraduate programme in English Language and Linguistics and the MA in English Language and Linguistics.  I specialise in Phonetics and Phonology; my interests in are in the phonetic/phonological interface, sociophonetics and child phonology.  I teach first year General Phonetics (articulatory and practical phonetics), second year English Phonetics and Phonology, and Accents and Dialects to third years.  I share teaching of the MA module ‘Structures’ with Shirley Reay.  This module looks at the applications of phonetics, phonology, morphology and syntax for the analysis of language, looking at for example, regional and social varieties of English and child language.

I have also contributed to the University’s Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in the areas of assessment and e-learning.
