Linguistics Lab
Our Linguistics Lab, located in the Fountains
Learning Centre, has been designed to be a social learning space,
where students and staff can do collaborative work on language and
linguistics. Users can access specialist software for
recording, editing, transcribing and analysing speech, as well as
phonetics tutorial software. The lab also contains software
for text based analysis.
The room accommodates up to 30 students, and
is available to students for independent work as well as timetabled
workshops. A lot of programmed teaching in our BA and MA programmes
also takes place in this area.
Additionally, we have a sound-proofed
recording room for audio (and video) work.
