Sacred quiet & prayer space

ChapelThe Chapel of St John the Evangelist

The full name for the main church building on campus, commonly called the Chapel. It is open from 8.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday. This space is used for worship and prayer as well as teaching, exhibitions and performance.  At the weekends it is used by various Christian denominations for Sunday worship and celebrations such as weddings and baptisms.

 

St Margaret’s Chapel

An informal dedicated prayer and discussion space to the left of the main chapel, furnished with sofas and coffee tables.

 

The Water of Life Chapel

Situated to the right of the main chapel. It is used for smaller group worship events. The stained glass window is the work of a former student.

 

The Chapel of Christ the Teacher

The small room on the right when entering the building. It is a space that is always available for private reflection, meditation, and prayer.

The Peance GardenThe Contemplation Room

(In the Quad) is a neutral space that is available to all members of the University, irrespective of their faith or background. The prayer space is ideal for small group studies or personal prayers and reflection. There are prayer books and mats for use by world faiths in the room and washing facilities are located nearby.

 

The Peace Garden

A special, Japanese-style haven tucked away behind the chapel, containing a tree brought from Hiroshima, a soothing water feature and benches to sit on and enjoy the quiet.
