David Horton
I am on
the second year of the BA (Hons) Children, Young People and
Families programme at York St John University. I feel that
being on the programme has not only assisted me in directing my
skills and ambitions both personally and professionally but has
helped me to find new depths in thinking, learning and putting
these aspects into practice. The University itself is very
small, and with this, you have a close working relationship with
both tutors and students which I found quite comforting when first
moving here. With this closeness I found that opportunities
to further you as a student and as a future employee appear more
frequently through advice on work experience, study development,
additional courses from tutors and support staff.
From my own experience, I have found that my first and second
year have flown by, and I can only imagine how fast my third year
will go. My advice is to take advantage of the fact that York
St John University is such a small university with plenty of
opportunity to meet new friends, play sport, get stuck into the
night life and take in all the support that is on offer for your
course, all whilst being in York's picturesque city centre.
Jump in with both feet; it's gone before you know it.
