The Ebor Lectures is an ecumenical project jointly organised by
York Minster, York St John University, York Institute for Community
Theology, The Order of Carmelites and the Churches Regional
Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber.

York Minster
York Minster is the cathedral church of the Archbishop and the
Diocese of York, and is the provincial cathedral for the Northern
Province of the Church of England.

York St John University
Established in 1841 as a York Diocesan Training School, York St
John University is now a thriving, friendly Higher Education
Community of nearly 6,000 students. Sine 2000, £27 million
has been spent on developing the campus to provide a variety of new
facilities including a new Learning Centre and a Student
Services Centre.

A Methodist institution with an ecumenical focus which seeks to
serve and enable the ministry and mission of the learning
church.

The Order of Carmelites
The Carmelites or Whitefriars are of the four mendicant orders
which have had links with York since the 13th
century. Currently they have a community at More House,
Heslington which serves as the Catholic Chaplaincy to the
University of York. They co-sponsor the Chair of Public
Theology at York St John University.

The Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire

The Churches Regional Commission aims to represent the churches
to regional bodies, to assert the significance of faith in the life
of the region and to work as partners in regeneration.

The York and Hull District of the Methodist
Church
The church covers a large area including the cities of York and
Hull, the Wolds, the North Yorks Moors, the coast from Whitby to
the Humber estuary, and into the Yorkshire Dales as far as Masham.
