Registration Details
Information/Registration Desk

The Conference Desk will be located in
the foyer of the De Grey Court building which can be found on the
corner of Clarence Street and Lord Mayor's Walk. Delegates can
register at the Conference Desk from 08:30 am on the morning of the
9th July 2013. Registration will be held from 08:30 until 09:45
am.
Conference Badges
You will be given a conference badge at
registration. We would ask that you wear your badge at all
times whilst at the conference venue as your badge is your
entry ticket to all keynotes, symposia, lunch, refreshments and
workshops.
Coffee Breaks and Lunches -
Coffee breaks and lunches will be held in the
De Grey Court foyer located on the ground floor of the De
Grey. Please consult your campus map which you will
find in your conference pack or ask one of the staff on hand
to give you directions. We would recommend that you begin to move
to your chosen panel session during the last five minutes of your
break in order to ensure that you give yourself
sufficient time to get there before the start of the
session.
Workshop/Breakout Rooms -
Keynotes will be held in the Dianne Willcocks
Theatre which is located on the ground floor of the De Grey
Court building on the York St John University Lord Mayor's Walk
campus. Workshops and breakout rooms will be spread across 4
rooms on the first floor of the De Grey Court building. Room
numbers for individual sessions will be found in your conference
pack which you will receive upon registration. Please allow a few
minutes for the walk between rooms.
Notes for Presenters -
All rooms used for presentations are equipped with a computer
and live Internet connection. They also have a white board, flip
chart, audio and overhead projector. If you need further equipment,
please contact valueandvirtue@yorksj.ac.uk.
Please let us know at valueandvirtue@yorksj.ac.uk
if you would like a special kind of layout of the room where you
will be presenting – horseshoe, chairs in rows, small groups,
chairs and tables?
If we do not hear from you we will assume you
do not have any preferences and we will arrange the room in a
standard way.
Please bring 20 copies of your presentation,
or put it on a website or other medium so that all participants can
access it in some way. You do not have to produce a full or
well-worked paper at this point, though you may do so if you wish.
Do, please, make sure that you have notes, or summaries of your
main ideas available for your audience, whether on paper or for a
screen. The more information you can give your audience, the more
they will appreciate what you have to say.
Please send your presentation in advance of
the conference to valueandvirtue@yorksj.ac.uk.
We will put it on the computer in the room where you will be
presenting. Alternatively, please bring your presentation on a
memory stick so we can upload it onto a computer in the room. If
you wish any materials to be included in the conference pack,
please contact valueandvirtue@yorksj.ac.uk.
You are invited to bring materials from your
own work or institution that you may wish to display in the
conference foyer or nearby, so delegates will have a chance to
browse. We will provide a table where you can display books,
materials, institutional brochures and information, and so on. You
are welcome to sell your books, if you wish, but please bear in
mind that you are responsible for all monies and materials. Staff
at the Conference Desk will do their best to monitor the area but
we cannot guarantee to have someone available all the time. Please
contact Jean at jeanmcniff@mac.com about your
personal display, and she will be glad to advise.
Access to the Internet -
Please check your conference pack if you wish
to have access to the internet whilst on the campus. Your
conference fee entitles you to a free temporary IT account which
can be used for the duration of your stay here at the University.
Your conference pack will include your designated username as well
as a password which will enable you to use any of the PCs
located in the University public areas or the library/IT
rooms. Information about how to access Wi-Fi from your
laptop (instructions will be required) can also be found in
your conference pack.
Liability Insurance
If required, please ensure you purchase
adequate insurance before travelling. The University and
the conference organisers cannot accept liability
for injuries or for damage or loss to property belonging
to the delegates, either during, or as a result of the meeting.
Should you have need of First Aid or
medical services during the conference please contact the
Reception Desk during office hours (9.00am - 5.00pm) on extension 0
