Dr Tony Leach

Tony Leach

Senior Lecturer, Children, Young People and Education (CYPE)

Tony's background is in teaching, learning consultancy and research. Having studied Theology at York St John in the 1960s, he was employed as a teacher in several High Schools over a period of 17 years.

From 1985 until 1987, he was jointly seconded to work for the Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Examinations Board and the Counselling and Career Development Unit at the University of Leeds. It was during that time that Tony decided to embark on a career in educational consultancy. Nowadays, Tony's consultancies are about helping individuals and teams develop their practice.

At York St John University, Tony teaches on the Foundation Degree programmes in Supporting Learning and Working with Children and Young People, the BA (Hons) Education Studies, and the MA Practitioner Research: Improving Professional Practice.

Tony’s active research work is concerned with investigating professional learning communities, the processes of psychological contracting within the workplace, workforce reform and the processes of job-redesign, the processes of knowledge creation and transfer and entrepreneurial learning in the workplace, and graduate employment and employability.
