Jeff Buckles
Head of Programme, Education Studies
Jeff Buckles is a Senior Lecturer in
Education and Head of Programme for the BA (Hons) Education Studies
degree.
Jeff has a BSc Econ in History and Politics
from University College Cardiff, a PGCE (Middle Years) from North
Staffordshire Polytechnic and an MA in Education Studies from Leeds
University. He has taught in Suffolk, Buckinghamshire and The
East Riding of Yorkshire, having been a classroom teacher,
curriculum co-ordinator, Head of Year, Advisory Teacher for PE, a
Deputy Headteacher for four years and a Headteacher for seven
years. He is the survivor of two OFSTED inspections.
Jeff's main subject interest is in values in education. Through
developing the BA (Hons) Education Studies degree, he has been able
to construct a course that puts values at the heart of researching
education. He is currently studying for his Doctor of Education
degree at the University of Hull and is researching into what
values we need to meet the challenges of the 21st
Century and the educational response needed to meet those
challenges
