Katie Simpson
Deputy Head of External Relationships
Katie joined the faculty in March 2009.
Katie has several years’ experience of working for Local
Authorities and the voluntary sector in Children and Young People’s
Services in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
She has worked as a Connexions Personal Advisor, managed
multi-agency Youth Service Teams and with refugees as a Development
Officer for English for Speakers of Other Languages and Family
Learning.
Her role at York St John University is to create and develop
partnerships with a range of organisations. This includes other
Higher Education Institutions, Local Authorities, community, faith
and voluntary groups. Katie’s role involves working closely with
organisations to facilitate the development of new accreditation
opportunities, new modules and bidding opportunities. Katie is
involved in helping to develop Widening Participation initiatives
across the faculty, including short courses and taster sessions in
the community.
Katie has a degree in English and Media
Studies from the University of Leeds and is currently studying for
a Master’s degree in Educational Improvement, Development and
Change at York St John University.
