Qualifications

BSc Pure Chemistry, Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice

Anita Backhouse spent five years in industry before becoming a schoolteacher for seven years during which time she became involved with the cognitive acceleration initiatives at Kings College in London.  This partnership with King's College developed further when she became a Teaching and Learning Consultant for Science, Assessment and Data Analysis in the East Riding of Yorkshire LA.  During this time she contributed to cognitive acceleration professional development not only for her own LA but nationally and internationally.   After a period of eight years in a school improvement capacity she became a senior lecturer in initial teacher education here at York St John University.  She also plays a role within the CPD department part of which includes providing an input on the Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice programme both at York St John University and in Bahrain.  She is currently writing primary science textbooks for the Chinese government in collaboration with other authors both in the UK and China.

Enquiry-based learning.  Assessment.

Cognitive acceleration in the Early Years Foundation Stage through to KS3.
