Born and bred in Sheffield Greg first studied History and trained as a teacher. After a spell working in Hampshire he went to Oxford to study Theology and prepare for ordination in the Anglican church.

Greg worked in parishes in Bradford for nearly 10 years before coming to York St John as Chaplain in 1987.
His research interest focuses on how people ‘construct’ faith, and in particular, the role of institutional religion in a very ‘noninstitutional’ age. He has a particular interest in the Anglican tradition and is involved in the York St John project on religion and faith in York.

He teaches Christian and Biblical studies across the Foundation Degree, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes.
