York Institute for Community Theology

York Institute for Community Theology is a Methodist training institution and resource centre working in partnership with York St John University and other ecumenical partners in Yorkshire and the North East.

The Institute exists:

to offer quality provision for the development of recognised ministries within the Church in collaboration with partners;

  • to provide opportunities for the whole people of God for reflection, theological education and exploration;
  • to act as a regional resource for mission and ecumenical development.

The Institute provides Foundation Training and Initial Training for Ordained Ministry for the Methodist Church. It manages a national scheme for lay ministry development called the Lay Ministry Formation Scheme, and runs a number of workshops throughout the year.
