The pursuit of internationally recognised research is one of the major strategic objectives of the Faculty of Education and Theology and this informs all aspects of our work. Staff are engaged in individual research projects and in a range of collaborative projects within the UK and throughout the world.

Our research activity ensures that undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is informed by cutting edge data and debates informing both the theoretical and professional aspects of our programmes.  The Faculty has a growing number of research students who have the opportunity to be involved in various teaching activities and are offered the option of studying a postgraduate module which is designed to develop the skills as future researchers and academics.

A large number of articles, monographs, edited books and research reports have been produced in the Faculty over the last few years for a wide readership audience. This alongside our key involvement in a series of international conferences, high-profile public lectures and membership of internationally recognised journals testify to the vitality and excellence of  our research.

Our research interests can broadly be grouped into the following:

Education, Religion and Spirituality   Education and Praxis
Religion and Society   Practical Theology
