Research - Education

Educational research at York St John University has developed
significantly over the past five years. The aim is to further
develop and enhance this with regards to staff participation in a
wide range of national and international research activities which
address both the academic and professional aspects of education
delivered in a variety of settings.
The emphasis is on research that is particularly centred on the
development of practice and informs the curriculum. This research
tends to be highly focussed and context specific providing analysis
that provides insights of interest both to researchers and
practitioners. The research profile of the Education section
at YSJU benefits from the inclusion of researchers with expertise
across a wide range of the education sector- formal and
non-formal, pre-school through to higher, adult, and
work-based.
Our research activity ensures that undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching is informed by contemporary debates, and that
research students can develop their skills and knowledge with the
support of a strong research culture.
