At York St John University, Mike is currently Head of CPD with overall responsibility for the Foundation Degrees, BA degrees and the MA programmes. Mike teaches mainly on the postgraduate programmes. He is heavily involved in developing pedagogy in HE in Kenya. Mike lectures principally in the areas of research methods, citizenship and pastoral care, leadership and management and teaching and learning in Higher Education.

Mike is an active researcher. His research focuses mainly on the areas of citizenship, professional identity and the management of change. He is a member of the European Affective Education Network and is vice chair of the National Association of Pastoral Care in Education.
