Professor Leslie Francis
Leslie
Francis was appointed as Visiting Professor at York St John
University in 2008. Currently he is also Professor of Religions and
Education within the Warwick Religions and Education Research Unit,
University of Warwick, and Honorary Cannon Theologian within Bangor
Cathedral.
Leslie’s main fields of research include Practical Theology,
Empirical Theology, Psychology of Religion, Religious Education,
and Ministry Studies. His research has made significant
contribution to:
- understanding the correlates, antecedents and consequences of
attitudes towards religion;
- applying Jungian psychological type theory to interpreting
individual differences in religiosity;
- appreciating the social significance of religious affiliation
as an indicator of identity;
- charting the role of religion and spirituality in the lives of
young people
- measuring, monitoring and explaining professional burnout and
work-related psychological health among clergy.
He has authored, co-authored, edited and
co-edited over 50 books, including, most recently
