International Links and Visits
The York St John Theology & Religious
Studies B.A. programme encourages its students to undertake
international visits which enhance their degree programme.
Inter-cultural encounters and learning by travelling can add a
considerable value to your degree experience.
International Exchange Visits to Seoul, South Korea
At level 3, we have a tutor-led visit to the Presbyterian
College and Theological Seminary* in Seoul, South Korea. The visit
lasts for three weeks in September and you may write a research
project on some aspect of the experience, which contributes to your
degree credits. For those students who have previously
engaged with the visit many have described the experience as
life-changing.

International Visits to Auschwitz, Krakow
Every two years students at any level on any
of our programmes are given the opportunity to go
to Krakow, Poland for a three day visit. As part of
the programme whilst there students spend the day at Auschwitz
and Birkenau concentration camps where they can spend time
reflecting on the impact of the events that unfolded during the
Second World War. It also provides a valuable opportunity to
experience first-hand a number of issues that many of our
students engage with on the BA Jewish Belief and Practice
module.

International Conference in Peace and Reconciliation
The subject area has developed an on-going international
conference in peace and reconciliation that has been hosted in
California, Israel, Seoul and York to date. In 2012 external
funding allowed a number of students to engage with this conference
which was based in Jerusalem.

Study Abroad and Exchange
At level 2, students may undertake a
three month exchange programme, where they study, not at York
St John but at a partner institution. Currently there are partners
in the USA and Canada but any high quality university overseas is a
potential partner for the programme.
