Dignity at Work
The University is committed to ensuring a
working and learning environment in which the dignity of
individuals is respected. Any form of harassment is,
therefore, unacceptable. The Dignity at Work Policy Statement and
Procedure have been developed deal with any concerns or complaints
of harassment, bullying or inappropriate behaviour raised by
members of staff.
The University has established a group of
trained Contacts, to whom a recipient of harassment or bullying (or
in certain circumstances the alleged perpetrator) can go and speak
in complete confidence. They are there to listen, to hear and
to understand what has happened, and to offer help and support
whether or not an individual wishes to make a formal complaint.
Speaking to a Harassment Contact does not invoke formal action but
will assist individuals by providing support and in considering
options open to them.
No member of staff invoked the Dignity at Work
procedure in the academic year 2011-2012.
