Disciplinaries
The University’s employment policies and Code
of Conduct set out the standards of behaviour and conduct expected
of employees. The Disciplinary procedure provides a mechanism for
maintaining those standards fairly, sensitively, objectively and
consistently.
The University firmly believes that in most
cases a carefully considered conversation at the right time between
the appropriate level of management and an employee is all that is
necessary and is often a more appropriate way to encourage
employees to achieve and maintain required standards of conduct and
behaviour than immediate formal disciplinary action.
Accordingly, minor cases of misconduct will,
in the first instance, be dealt with informally. This informal
approach is not part of the formal disciplinary procedure and no
monitoring statistics are therefore available.
In the academic year 2011/12 1 employee was
taken through the formal disciplinary process. They were
male, White British and not declared disabled.
