5.0% of staff at the University declared a disability, with a further 1.0% choosing not to disclose.  Of the staff who identify as disabled 3.2% have a hearing impairment, 35.5% have a long standing illness or health condition, 6.5% have a mental health condition, 12.9% have a physical impairment or mobility issue, 22.6% have a specific learning disability such as dyslexia and 19.4% have another type of disability.

Disability profile

The percentage of disabled staff in the University workforce is higher than national figures for higher education (3.2%) but significantly lower than the percentage of disabled people in the working population (19.0%).  At UK-wide level across higher education establishments 7.7% of staff chose not to declare their disability status.
