Private accommodation

Unless there is a specific reason for remaining in Halls, such as medical grounds or an appointment as a Residential Support Assistant students returning to York St John after their first year will generally need to find accommodation in the private sector.  Likewise new students coming through clearing, or who were not made an offer of university accommodation in August for any reason, will also generally need to rent in the private sector or make alternative living arrangements.  Some students will simply prefer to live in houses or flats rented from private landlords, of which York has plenty.

The Accommodation office keeps a list of property being offered for rent which is updated weekly at peak times of the year (February to June), and only includes properties which meet a minimum standard.  To find out more about renting in the private sector please click on the links below.
