Students with Additional Accommodation Needs

Room Requirements on Medical or Disability Grounds

We ask that all students who have additional needs relating to their accommodation on medical grounds or because of a disability let us know when you return your application form .  We will then send you a more detailed questionnaire to assess how we can help you.York St John University accommodation  The earlier we are aware of your requirements the better, as this gives us more time to prepare.

The type of assistance we can offer ranges from allocation of a fully wheelchair accessible room to minor alterations such as supplying a fridge for medication, or making sure you have the choice of an ensuite bathroom if you need one for a specific reason.

Depending on the complexity of your needs the Accommodation Office will stay in touch with you and the Disability Advice Team throughout the application process to make sure you are placed in the most suitable accommodation.

Please note that although it is our aim to accommodate all students with a disability in the year of their original application, if your requirements mean that we need to carry out major works to adapt accommodation we may need to ask a student to defer for a year to give us the time to carry this out.  We are not able to guarantee any request, only to give priority to applicants with the greatest need.

If you have additional requirements that are not covered by our questionnaire please let us know as soon as possible. Contact us.
