Energy and Environmental Management

York St John University has in excess of 6,000 students and 600 staff, and occupies eight sites across the City.  Given this scale of activity we naturally have a significant environmental impact at the local, national and global levels.  We are committed to managing and reducing those impacts, and to promoting sustainable development.

Our Key Aims state that we will "become an exemplar of best practice within the sector and City by reducing our environmental impact".

The University Environmental Management Policy and Carbon Management Plan have been developed, and are regularly reviewed to help us achieve our sustainability and environmental targets.

The Environmental Management Committee  and its working groups implement and oversee these and other relevant policies and plans, as well as monitoring progress towards achieving our goals.  The Committee reports directly to the Senior Management Team.  Access the Environmental Management Committee's Terms of Reference and past minutes here.
