Grounds Team

Lord Mayor's WalkThe University has over 40 acres of grounds spread over seven locations around York.

A team of six gardeners are responsible for the maintenance of the sites, internal floral displays, snow clearing and gritting, as well as the upkeep of the artificial and natural turf for sports and recreation.

The gardens have received a number of awards for the high standard in which they are kept including a Gold award (Best In Category) for the 2009 Britain In Bloom competition, and a Silver-Gilt Rose in the 2012 'Yorkshire in Bloom' Awards.

All of the sites have plenty of areas to sit, study or relax, complemented by informal plantings of mixed shrubs.
