Under the Health and Safety at Work Act every employer with 5 or more employees must have an agreed, written Health & Safety Policy describing how they will manage health and safety in their business and how they will let their staff and others know about your commitment to health and safety.

The University Health & Safety Policy comprises a one page Policy Statement signed by the Vice Chancellor and the Chair of Governing Body which is put on public display – on building Receptions for example.  In addition we have a more detailed (but still quite brief) written Policy which basically sets out who does what, when and how in respect of our health & safety.
