‘What you need to know’.
Employers have a legal duty under the ‘Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations’ (HSIER) to display the approved ‘What you need to know’ poster in a prominent position in each workplace or to provide each worker with a copy of the approved leaflet (available as a free download from http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/law.pdf) that outlines British health and safety law.
The poster was recently updated and whilst the existing poster (originally launched in 1999) can be displayed until 2014, the University is rolling out the new posters in early 2012.
In addition the ‘What you need to know’ pocket card has also been updated and this is made available at York St John to all our new staff at their formal Induction as well as being specified on the York St John ‘Health & Safety Induction checklist’.
The Health & Safety Officer will be organising distribution of the posters however, please contact Neil Rogers if you require a further copy or copies.
