Immediate Help

If you feel you need to talk to someone urgently about how you’re feeling there are a number of options available. Try not to think that the issue you have isn’t big enough to ring a helpline. They are trained to help you open up and don’t ‘grade’ problems according to severity.

If you are worried about your state of mind and perhaps that you are having intrusive and disturbing thoughts it is always a good idea to seek prompt medical and psychiatric support. Again these professionals are trained to calm the feelings and offer interventions that can reduce the anxiety.

You or a friend may need immediate help at times when the Student Advice desk or the University is closed.  If immediate help is needed in an emergency please contact:

  • Porters Lodge: 01904 876651
  • Porters Mobile: 07850 774811
  • York St John Security: 01904 876444
  • Security Mobile: 07885 201182

In any circumstance where there may be an immediate threat, you may also want to call the emergency services by dialling 999.

The police non-emergency number is 101. What is the difference between 999 and 101?
