Health Plan - York St John University pays for all employees with one year’s service to have a Simplyhealth plan. The plan will allow you to claim back money (up to your annual limit) towards your everyday healthcare including:

  • £60 towards dental treatment
  • £60 towards optical treatment
  • £150 towards the cost of physiotherapy, acupuncture, podiatry/chiropody, homeopathy
  • £500 towards consultations and scans
  • £100 towards having a health screening

Childcare Vouchers - York St John offers childcare vouchers as a flexible way for employees to meet the needs of childcare. A proportion of salary is ‘sacrificed’ in exchange for the vouchers, which are non-taxable and exempt from NI contributions. For further details on the scheme please download the parent pack.

Cycle Purchase Scheme - York St John offers staff the ability to purchase cycles through a salary ‘sacrifice’ scheme. Staff pay monthly through their salary and are exempt from paying income tax and NI on the deduction. Therefore, there is the potential to save up to 40% on the cost of a bike and equipment.

Your Wellbeing - YSJActive and HR launched a pilot Wellbeing Scheme for the academic year 2013-2014 focusing on enabling staff to lead a healthier lifestyle.
