Desktop
York St John University provides a cloud desktop service
enabling you to access all the latest software on
any computer on campus or at home,
providing an enhanced student experience.
The Fountains Learning Centre has 400 open access computers
and a range of specialist resources available, including:
- Apple Mac OSX labs
- Avid Lab
- Linguistics Lab
There are also a number of specialist areas available within
each faculty such as Biomechanics, Design and Technology, Music,
Film and TV, Psychology and Physiology.
To access the desktop service from your own device, you are
required to install the VMware View client. To install this
application, please click here. Select your operating
system from the list and install.
When prompted for the server address, please enter:
vdi.yorksj.ac.uk
* Please note: For Windows users, you may be prompted for the
server address during installation. We also advice not to
install the VMware View Client with Local Mode option.
When using the VMware View Software please make sure you
deselect the option "Log in as current user" before attempting to
login.

equipment, please contact ILS.
