with a powerful Unified Communications solution that enables staff
and students to interact, communicate and collaborate on a whole
new level. Microsoft Lync delivers complete Presence, Instant
Messaging, Video Conferencing and Enterprise Voice Capabilities
through a single, easy-to-use interface that is consistent across
PC, browser, and mobile device.
Lync users can connect to anyone on
Skype or Google Talk enabling rich communication with
hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Another great feature of Lync is its ability to
let non-YSJ users participate in all of the above

PC's across campus but it is also available for YSJ users to

- With the new gallery view, you
automatically see everyone in the video conference, previously, you
were limited to only displaying one other participant.
- HD video (720p & 1080p) is now
fully supported. (You or your conference partner will need a
suitable HD webcam.

file format) and then share the recording.

Lync – Skype
- Taking advantage of Microsoft’s
recent purchase of Skype, Lync users are now able to communicate
with Skype users (Skype users need to login to Skype with Microsoft

Messenger, Google Talk, & Yahoo.

and vice-versa, enabling presence sharing.

Lync Web App:
- Can be easily used by non-York
St John guests to participate in Lync conferences without them
having to install any software on their computer.
- Allows PC and Mac users to join
a Lync meeting from within a web-browser and now delivers a full
Lync experience, including:
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
so you can connect to your meeting from anywhere without telephone
- Desktop, Application
and PowerPoint sharing.
