  2. Year the work was produced (in round brackets)
  3. Title of image
  4. Medium of image [in square brackets]
  5. In: (followed by a colon) and the details of the book

 

Photographs, illustrations, diagrams, charts, etc.

  • In text citation:
  • The method is the same as that used for citing books and articles, etc. Give the author, the date and the page numbers with the illustration.

 

Reproduction of works of art

  • In text citation:
  • You need to cite the source where you found the image as above, but also to give an acknowledgement for the original artist, photographer, designer, etc. This would appear under the image you have reproduced in your work.
  • Krasner, L. (1956) Birth. (Weidemann, C., Larass, P. & Kliwer, M., 2008, p. 104)
  • Similarly, if you are discussing the work within your text, the bracketed reference is to the work in which you found the image to which you refer.
  • Krasner's 1956 work Birth (Weidemann, Larass & Klier, 2008, p. 104) captures the diametrically opposed forces of endurance and beauty experienced at the birth of a child.
  • Full reference:
