Edited books
Chapter in a book
Use the name of the author of the chapter as your in-text
citation. In your reference list give their name and the title of
their chapter, but also include the name of the book's editor and
its title, using ed. or eds. after the name(s) of the
editor(s).
- In-text citation:
- Doumani (1999, p.31) stresses the difficulty of answering
questions about 'the nature of Palestinian society' until
Palestinians are written into their own history.
- Full reference:
- Doumani, B. (1999) Rediscovering Ottoman Palestine: writing
Palestinians into history. In: Pappe, I. ed. The
Israel-Palestine question: a reader. 2nd
ed. London, Routledge, pp. 11-39.
Edited books
If you refer to an edited book as a whole, not just one chapter,
use the editor's name (followed by ed. or eds.) in your reference
list.

- Many contemporary writers address the theme of cultural
difference (Nasta, 2004).
