Spend some time thinking about your topic

When you start to search for information, it is important that you think about your topic carefully. You need to clarify and define your research question. If you break down your search topic into sections and consider keywords before you start searching, you should be able to improve the quality of the results that you find and save yourself time in the long run.

 

When you think about your topic, underline the key words or phrases.

 

Consider the following search example:

Discuss the gender differences in online interaction amongst adolescents

 

Think of the three main elements to this topic:

Gender differences Online interaction Adolescents
