Word endings (truncation)

What is it /what does it do?

Searches for different word endings (eg: the singular and plural) to ensure that you don't miss relevant records, eg: athlete, athletes, athletic, athletics

How do I do it?

Use * (star or asterisk) at the end of the word stem (ie: the part of the word which does not change its spelling when different endings are used). In the example above that would be athlet*

The following example from the SPORTDiscus database shows the results from a search on

nutrition and athlet* in the article title:

Truncation

Notice that the following variations occur: athletic, athletes and athlete.
