Academic Liaison Librarians provide the main link between faculties and the library. The services they can offer include:

Information skills training

Each Academic Liaison Librarian can offer groups of students lectures and workshops on searching for information and evidence for assignments and special studies. These can be tailored to any level of study and be linked to a particular assignment if you wish. Please contact the relevant librarian if you would like to include one of these sessions in your module.

Obtaining library resources for reading lists

Please send any reading lists (including those in module handbooks) to the Academic Liaison Librarian in advance of the module starting. The librarian will check to ensure we have, or are able to obtain, the necessary titles for the library and that the most up to date edition is ordered.

One-to-one research support

It is possible for students to make an appointment with their Academic Liaison Librarian so that they can discuss strategies for finding relevant information for their assignments (particularly special studies), especially in relation to the use of electronic databases.

Subject collection development

The Academic Liaison Librarians will endeavour to develop a collection of resources appropriate to the degree programmes offered within their faculties. This includes electronic resources such as e-journals, eBooks and databases, AV materials and software, alongside traditional books and journals. Please contact your librarian if you would like a title to be considered.
