York Teaching Hospital Library
1. Where is the York Teaching Hospital Library?
It is situated on the first floor of Fountains. Follow the signs
from the top of the stairs or lift, or ask at Question Point for
directions.
2. When is it open?
The Library is staffed Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. However, users
will be able to access the Library's facilities outside these hours
when the YSJ Library is open. Please check the
YSJ Library opening hours for more detail.
3. What am I entitled to borrow?
YSJ staff and students are entitled to borrow up to five items
from the York Teaching Hospital Library collection. They are
also entitled to reference access to the journal collection.
Photocopying facilities are available in the York
Teaching Hospital Library area, or you can take them to the
copiers available in the rest of the Learning Centre.
Any items borrowed have a loan period of four weeks regardless
of the time of year, including YSJ vacations.
4. How can I check what the library holds?
All of the York Teaching Hospital Library's items are listed on
Discover. Any York Teaching Hospital Library copies will
appear with the location York Teaching Hospital Library. The
York Teaching Hospital Library uses a different classification
scheme so please check that you have the correct class number.
5. Am I entitled to use the NHS e-journals and databases?
If you are a student on an NHS commissioned course (or a member
of staff supporting students on an NHS
commissioned course) you are entitled to an NHS Athens
username and password allowing access to databases and journals
available through
National Core Content on NHS Evidence.

6. Information for existing York Teaching Hospital
Library borrowers who are also on courses at York St John
As the two libraries share a library catalogue, you will only
need one library card. You will need to choose which type of
membership to have. Please ask staff for further details.
