Changing English in internationalising universities: two work-in-progress language awareness projects focussing on students and new academic staff

This event was hosted at York St John University  as part of the Higher Education Academy's Workshop and Seminar Series 2012. Click here for more information about HEA Workshop and Seminar Series 2012.

Information about the event:

The aim of this seminar was to address changing ideas about English, and especially the variable and dynamic nature of English as used in international contexts. The specific issue for discussion is the need to develop UK and international staff and students' awareness of lingua franca English usage by both 'native speakers' and 'non-native speakers'.
