Strategic Priorities

The Learning and Teaching Development team provides expert pedagogic support for all staff in the development of exceptional learning, teaching and assessment at York St John University. Our work is informed by the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy 2012-15 and by working closely with all Faculties and Departments to identify local needs.

Strategic Priorities for 2012-13

1. Continue to ensure the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy influences and enhances pedagogic practices with a particular emphasis on supporting the development and innovation in:

  • assessment and feedback practices;
  • international perspectives of teaching and learning.

2. Embed “Recognising Academic Practice: The York St John University CPD framework” as a core component of our academic staff development. Our priority in 2012-13 is to:

  • support staff to gain a qualification to teach and recognition as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy;
  • support staff who wish to demonstrate their leadership in teaching and learning by providing an opportunity for them to gain recognition as a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

3. Embed the TEL Quality Framework as a means to ensure consistency of the student experience as it relates to technology enhanced learning and to innovate in the delivery of teaching and learning. This will include:

  • working with Faculties to benchmark the use of technology as it supports student learning;
  • develop innovative projects using lecture capture, video and iPads that enhance the student learning experience.
