TEL Quality Framework

The TEL framework has been collaboratively
developed by Learning and Teaching Development and university
e-Pedagogy Teaching Fellows. It is based on the 3E framework which
came from extensive work at Edinburgh Napier University. The
framework was approved by ESEC (Enhancement and Student Experience
Committee) in March 2012 and is being implemented from September
2012.
The aim of the framework is to assist staff to
meaningfully incorporate technology into the learning and teaching
approach of their modules in ways that are underpinned by the
principles of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy.
The framework will help to ensure consistency
of experience and maintain quality in how technology is used across
the university. It prompts staff to consider not only what tools
they will use but how they will use them to facilitate student
learning, and what type of learning it is they wish their students
to engage in. By engaging with the TEL framework, colleagues will
be working within the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF)
which can contribute to recognition from the HEA through the YSJ
Recognising Academic Practice CPD Framework.
Implementation
An implementation strategy has been set out
and presented to ESEC on 4th July 2012. The document
will be available for download shortly.
The strategy sets out five phases of
implementation which it is hoped will lead to the framework being
embedded across the university by academic year 2014/15.
