What is it? How to get involved SR Network SR Conference

The Students as Researchers Scheme gives YSJ students a paid opportunity to experience research first-hand as research assistants. One of the aims is to engage students and staff in collaborative research projects and to provide opportunities for students to be participants in the production of research. This might include being involved in collecting data, analysing data and producing results, attending conferences to present your findings. This video shows what you can do as part of Students as Researchers projects.

Students have been involved in projects across a wide range of subject areas, and some have worked in less traditional research areas, developing teaching and learning resources or working with the University Disability Team. This Scheme has been running since 2006 and overall more than 200 students from across the University have already benefited from the scheme. One of the students commented:

“I feel that I have gained key knowledge through a constant dialogue with so many different people and the learning experience felt like something that I have achieved on my own rather than being told how things work. I now feel much more prepared for my future career within society.”

Our aim is to build a community of student researchers by on-going student collaboration and support , and also through an annual Student Researcher Conference that is organised and run by students themselves.
